Snaps to what you mean
Hover a window and Tweety outlines it. Turn on element snapping and it finds the sidebar, toolbar or list inside it. Scroll to step out, from element to window to the whole screen. Or just drag your own area.
Tweety lives in your menu bar. Press a shortcut, snap to any window or element, and your screenshot or recording is copied, saved, or turned into a link before you finish blinking.
Download for macOSScreenshots and short screen recordings without the clutter. Tweety does the few things you need, and does them fast.

A built-in magnifier follows your cursor, so every edge lands exactly where you want it.
Pick an area, get a 3-2-1 countdown, and Tweety records a crisp MP4. Stop from the menu bar or press Esc to cancel.
Turn on uploads and Tweety sends your capture to Catbox and puts the link on your clipboard. Paste it anywhere.
Global shortcuts work from any app. Change them to whatever your fingers already know.
Tweety encodes with constant quality and a sensible bitrate cap, so a static UI demo is a fraction of a megabyte per second and busy footage never balloons.

No editor pops up, no dialog asks where to save. Your capture goes exactly where you told Tweety to send it.

Everything you need to know before your first capture.
Tweety is a small menu bar app for taking screenshots and short screen recordings on your Mac. Press a shortcut, choose a window, element or area, and the result is copied to your clipboard, saved to a folder, or uploaded with the link copied for you.
Any Mac with macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later. Tweety is a universal app, so it runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel.
Screen Recording is required, because that is how macOS lets apps capture the screen. Accessibility is optional: it lets Tweety highlight elements inside windows, like a sidebar or a toolbar. Without it, snapping works on whole windows. A short setup guide walks you through both on first launch.
Not unless you ask it to. Uploading is off by default and you turn it on separately for screenshots and for recordings. Otherwise everything stays on your Mac.
Uploads go to Catbox, a free file host. Anonymous uploads are public to anyone who has the link and cannot be deleted later. If you add the optional userhash from a free Catbox account, files are tied to your account and you can delete them from Tweety's Recent Uploads menu (⌥-click).
Screenshots are PNG or JPEG with adjustable quality. Recordings are MP4 at 30 fps in H.264 or HEVC, with Small, Medium and High quality presets and an optional resolution cap.
No. Tweety records video only, which keeps files small and perfect for bug reports, demos and quick how-tos.
Yes. The defaults are ⌥⇧4 for a screenshot and ⌥⇧5 for a recording, and you can record any combination you like in Settings. Tweety warns you if a shortcut clashes with the system or another app's menu.
Tweety is signed, but not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm the first launch. Open Tweety once and close the warning, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click “Open Anyway”. macOS remembers your choice, and updates install without asking again.
Tweety checks for a new version about once a day and installs it with one click. Every update is cryptographically signed, and Tweety refuses any update that doesn’t carry that signature.
No analytics run inside the app. The daily update check sends only the version you have installed, which tells us roughly how many people use each version. This website counts downloads and visits anonymously, without cookies, and stores no IP addresses.
Download Tweety, press ⌥⇧4, and see how fast a screenshot can be.
